With my innovation time as a whole, I wish I would have figured out what I was going to do sooner. If I had, maybe I would have been more dedicated to the project and have gotten more things done. As much as I would like to learn an instrument, I don't have the self-dedication and the time to set aside and work at it. It meant a lot to have a portion of time in a class set aside to work towards a project that I wanted to do. The most meaningful part of the innovation project was being able to have artistic freedom and chose whatever I wanted to do. However, I think that range of choice scared me and mental limited me, causing me to mentally limit myself. I will also link my Ted Talk about innovation project here after I present it, which will be in a few weeks.

Due to a family emergency, I was unable to do anything related to the innovation project. Hopefully I'll have more to talk about for the next post, but this next week will be difficult. My hope is that between now and the Ted talk is to possibly learn a new song and/or think of a new design for my guitar case.
So far I've been stuck in a rut. I haven't been motivated to focus and work on the guitar. I also have become EXTREMELY busy with schoolwork and it is my priority. Hopefully in the next week or so I can get out of the rut. In the mean time, I think I might paint my guitar case. It's really old and beat up, and I want to give it a little personality. I'll have to decide on what I'll use and what I'll do as a design. More to come next week!
I haven't made any advancements with my project. This makes me upset with myself, because it's partially because I'm getting frustrated with it. I expect it to be really easy and that I can just pick up a guitar and immediately begin playing it. It's not that east; it takes a lot of hard work and practice. I need to be more patient with the learning process and just do my best. The other piece is that school is in its last few months, so my teachers are working hard to get in the material they need to teach before the exams come up. I'm concerned that with the amount of work I'm getting (including from my AP course) I'm not going to be able to dedicate as much time to the innovation project as I would like to. Hopefully over the four day weekend I can get in some well needed Maddy-guitar time!
Since last week, I have made a huge improvement. By suggestion of my friend, I have been practicing for about 30 minutes each day. Hopefully I have so more exciting news for the blog next week, but as for now, nothing exciting is happening. I'm still working towards learning the basic chords before attempting to learn a new song. Let's see where the next week takes us!
Not much has happened since my last blog post. I've attempted to learn another song, but I realized that it would work better if I learned how to play different chords first. Plus I noticed that I have smaller hands that the average person, so it's slightly difficult to stretch four fingers across three frets when trying to play some chords. One of my friends from theater, Nyle, knows how to play the guitar as does his dad (who was in a couple of bands growing up). I'm planning on asking Nyle to give me a few pointers on how to play the guitar. Hopefully I'll some more exciting news for the blog next week!
This past week I was able to learn a full song on the guitar! I learned how to play "Sick of Losing Soulmates" by Dodie Clark. It's really easy, it only uses the low E string and the D string, but it was still a good first song. I'm trying to learn some more songs, so suggestions will be taken! Playing guitar has been relaxing for me, and I'm glad I have something to keep me distracted from freaking out about school. More updates to come soon!
I made a large advancement with my project today. I finally got myself an acoustic guitar! I'm so excited to start learning how to play it. First, I'm going to start learning the chords for the guitar. Then, I'm going to try some simple songs on the guitar. Once I get the hang of that (which will probably take a while), then I'll start learning some more advanced songs and use a capo. I can't wait for the next innovation day!
This past innovation day, I was out sick. Because of that, I have not made any advancements with the project. I'm hoping to go out this weekend and check out a couple places to find a guitar to buy, but I've been saying that for weeks and end up too busy. Hopefully I can try to do that this weekend, along with picking out a couple of songs to try and learn.
I was finally able to start learning the guitar on Friday! My classmate brought the guitar, which I learned how to tune. It was difficult to tune some of the strings because they were older strings. I learned what note each string represented along with the different frets on the guitar. This week, I hope to try and start learning a very basic song.
